Product Overview

The Juniper MX204-HW-BASE is the base configuration of the MX204 Universal Routing Platform - a compact 1U router (NOT 2U) built for space- and power-constrained edge, metro and DCI roles. The base unit carries a fixed port set rather than the incorrect '3x100G + 12x10G' description sometimes seen.

Per the HCT, the MX204 provides eight SFP+ ports (1/10GbE) and four QSFP+ ports that support 40GbE and, via QSFP28 optics, 100GbE, with port channelization. The platform delivers 400 Gbps of routing capacity and runs Junos OS. Its small 1U footprint and high density make it a popular aggregation and peering router.

The '-HW-BASE' part is the hardware base; optics and any software tiers are ordered separately.
