The C9105AXW is purpose-built for hospitality, residence halls, and multi-tenant units where in-room installations are required. The wall-mounted design provides superior aesthetics, simplified cabling, and integrated three downstream Ethernet ports to eliminate under-desk switch sprawl. The AP uses the AIR-AP-BRACKET-W4 mounting bracket, which shares the same mounting pattern as the previous AIR-AP-BRACKET-W3 for painless upgrades. The C9105AXWT variant includes a desktop cradle for teleworker deployments.
Wi-Fi 6 Radio and Performance
The AP operates dual-concurrent, dual-band 2x2:2 MU-MIMO radios on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, achieving a maximum aggregate PHY data rate of up to 1.488 Gbps. It implements uplink/downlink OFDMA for high-efficiency multi-user operation, downlink MU-MIMO for simultaneous client transmissions, BSS Coloring for interference mitigation, and Target Wake Time to extend client battery life. Integrated internal antennas are directional in azimuth, providing a peak gain of 3 dBi at 2.4 GHz and 5 dBi at 5 GHz. The AP is fully backward-compatible with all legacy 802.11a/b/g/n/ac clients.
Wired Connectivity and IoT Radios
The wallplate architecture includes a 100/1000/2500-BASE-T mGig uplink port, three 1G downstream Ethernet ports (LAN1 supports 10.5 W PSE powering), one USB 2.0 port (4.5 W), and an RJ-45 console. The AP integrates an embedded IoT radio supporting Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy (BLE) and Zigbee, enabling custom IoT application hosting with Docker-style containers.
Power and Management
The AP is powered by 802.3af/at PoE or external Cisco injectors. Operating on 802.3af (PoE), the AP maintains 2x2 radio operation on both bands and the 2.5 Gbps uplink link while disabling USB and LAN1 PSE; on 802.3at (PoE+), it enables either USB or LAN1 PSE (one at a time). The AP requires a controller-based architecture and is fully managed by the Cisco Catalyst 9800 Series Wireless Controllers, the industry's leading IOS-XE based wireless platform.
