Cisco Firepower 1010 (FPR1010-NGFW-K9) Product Overview
The 1-rack-unit (1U) desktop appliance comes with 8 – Gigabit Ethernet (1000BASE-T) RJ-45 ports: two ports (Ethernet 1/7 and 1/8) support IEEE 802.3af Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) and 802.3at PoE +, delivering up to 30 W per port-directly powering IP phones, wireless access points, and cameras without separate adapters. Each interface can be independently configured as a regular firewall (Layer 3/ 4) port or a Layer 2 hardware switch port, providing exceptional deployment flexibility.
Powered by Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) software, the 1010 provides firewall and application visibility and control (AVC) throughput of 890 Mbps (1024-byte UDP), next-generation IPS (NGIPS) throughput of 900 Mbps, and IPsec VPN throughput of 400 Mbps for up to 75 VPN peers. The platform supports 195 Mbps Transport Layer Security (TLS) decryption and scales to 100,000 maximum concurrent sessions with 6,000 new connections per second. A 200 GB hard drive stores local logs and reports.
Advanced threat defense capabilities include Application Visibility and Control (AVC) for over 4,000 applications, next-generation intrusion prevention system (NGIPS), URL filtering, advanced malware protection, and Cisco Talos-delivered real-time threat intelligence. Multiple management options-including on-box web interface, Firepower Management Center (FMC), cloud-based Cisco Defense Orchestrator, and the Cisco Firepower Device Manager for smaller deployments-streamline deployment for any environment.
The appliance measures 46 × 199 × 205 mm (1.8 × 7.8 × 8.1 in), weighs 1.36 kg (3 lbs), and operates silently with no moving parts. The FPR1010-NGFW-K9 is the direct successor to the Cisco ASA5506-X Adaptive Security Appliance. For pure stateful firewalling without Layer 7 NGFW features, the identical hardware can be factory-imaged with the ASA software (FPR1010-ASA-K9 variant), and the two images are interchangeable through device re-imaging. For smaller PoE needs, the FPR1010E omits PoE and is otherwise identical.
