Cisco Catalyst C9124AXE-ROW Outdoor Access Point Product Overview
The six external RP-TNC antenna ports support dual-band antennas with gains certified up to 13 dBi (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) as well as Cisco's self-identifying antennas (SIA) for automatic regulatory compliance validation. The AP supports 1 to 6 antenna configurations for the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz radios, with up to 6 dual-band antennas, providing maximum deployment flexibility. An integrated internal omnidirectional BLE antenna powers location-based services such as asset tracking and wayfinding without consuming external antenna ports.
The AP is powered by a 4x4:4 radio in 2.4 GHz plus two 2x2:2 radios in 5 GHz, delivering a maximum aggregate PHY data rate of 5.38 Gbps when fully configured. All 5 GHz radios support 4 spatial streams of uplink/downlink MU-MIMO, OFDMA, BSS Coloring, and Target Wake Time (TWT) for battery-operated client savings up to 3-4 times greater than 802.11ac. A dedicated Cisco RF ASIC provides real-time spectrum analysis, CleanAir interference detection, wIPS, and DFS. A 2.5 GbE (100/1000/2500BASE-T) uplink delivers high-throughput wired backhaul on standard Cat 5e cabling, and the AP supports flexible PoE input (802.3af/at/bt, UPOE, DC auxiliary) along with PoE output on its downlink interface.
The AP delivers true all-weather operation (IP66/IP67, -40 °C to +65 °C with no solar loading, up to 100 mph sustained wind, 0.5-inch icing tolerance) and weighs 7 lb (3.1 kg). Management is via Cisco Catalyst 9800 Series Wireless Controllers (minimum IOS-XE 17.6.2) with optional Catalyst Center automation. The AP supports centralized, FlexConnect, mesh, and Embedded Wireless Controller (EWC) modes.

Note: For applications requiring fully integrated omnidirectional coverage without external antenna infrastructure, the C9124AXI-ROW model is recommended. The C9124AXE-ROW requires a Cisco Catalyst 9800 wireless controller and must be paired with Cisco-approved external dual-band antennas (available separately) whose gain complies with the certified maximum of 13 dBi for the chosen regulatory domain.
